Our 80+ partners who cover the whole value chain from end user to networks including technology companies, governments, and many of Australia’s leading energy researchers provide us with cash and in-kind contributions. This combined funding allows us to invest approx. $350m of total resources over 10 years to catalyse lower energy costs and a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. RACE has five programs comprising 11 research themes. The five research programs are: RACE for Business, RACE for Homes, RACE for Networks, RACE for EVs and RACE for Change (covering cross-sectoral issues). RACE’s research learnings will be driven into the market through our market transformation programs to deliver our targets of reducing energy costs, cutting carbon emissions and increasing customer load flexibility to allow increased penetration of renewables in the grid and improved reliability. Our aim is to deliver over $3.8 billion of cumulative energy productivity benefits and 20Mt of cumulative carbon emission savings by 2030. We want our legacy to be transformative and sustainable change in energy service provision and carbon emission reductions. We launched three key projects in 2023 aimed at influencing transformative change as Australia transitions to better energy productivity and strives towards decarbonisation. The key projects are Strategic EV integration, Energy upgrades for Australian Homes and Pathways to Net Zero Precincts.
